William English is owner of English Management Solutions, Inc, has over twenty years of helping small businesses, retailers  and non-profits manage their finances. Mr. English holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with an Accountancy focus from National University in San Diego.   He has been a certified ProAdvisor since 2002, a Certified Point of Sale ProAdvisor since version 2.1, an Advanced Certified ProAdvisor since 2007 and is Enterprise Certified since version 9.0.

 

Mr. English has been using and supporting QuickBooks for over 15 years starting with the first DOS version of QuickBooks where he was hired by Intuit as one of the first accounting trained technical support representatives for the program. Mr. English has been installing, training and supporting QuickBooks Point of Sale clients since version 2.1 and is an active beta tester for both QuickBooks Financial and Point of Sale Products.  He was a founding member of the Retail Solution Provider program and has won numerous sales and service awards in that program until it’s merger into the Intuit Premier Reseller Program . Robin Hall is the President and Principal Consultant of VARC Solutions in Friendswood, TX specializing in QuickBooks training and consulting, and also QuickBase development. Jennifer L. Katrulya is the owner of BMRG and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in both Connecticut and New York.  She is an Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, and is also certified in Intuit’s Enterprise Solutions and Point-of-Sale software applications.  Jennifer has spent the last 15 years working with small to mid-sized businesses to help them use technology to streamline workflow processes, establish company policies and procedures, save time and maximize profits.  
 

In her prior positions Jennifer has provided general public accounting services in the areas of tax, audit, financial statement preparation, management and strategic planning services, tax planning, as well as fiduciary and estate probate work to a diverse client base.  She has also previously served as the Controller for a large staffing company.  In that position she was an integral part of an Accounts Receivable Task Force comprised of the company President, CFO and manager of each of the company’s 19 offices that created “best practices” for cash receipts and application, with an estimated $1.5 million cost savings to the Company.  She supervised staff in the areas of Financial Reporting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and a payroll team that processed over 7500 timesheets each week.
 

Jennifer is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants; Intuit’s Trainer Writer Network; and Intuit’s Accountant and Customer Advisor Council, 2008-2009 and 2009-2010.  She is a frequent speaker on a variety of technology solution, accounting, and business management topics.

Stacy is owner/operator of Kildal Services LLC, located in Waterford, Michigan—a full service bookkeeping company that specializes in all things QuickBooks. J. Victor Nahigian is the founder and CEO of Systems Analysis Services Inc., based in Newton, Mass.  Since 1977, the company has provided desktop, server, infrastructure, security, security, web design and general computer services to businesses from $5million to $1billion.  Our firm currently employs over a dozen employees.

 

Nahigian’s background in computers started at a young age and by high school, he had already written several books and won national and regional programming contests. He started his own business in 1974 at the age of 16, and, without an accounting degree he wrote the software program General Business Systems (GBS), with virtually the same function as QuickBooks accounting software. Carol Oliver, a CPA with over 25 years of professional experience in accounting and accounting software, has worked as a consultant or controller in many different industries and has been a certified trainer for Sage accounting software, Crystal Reports Designer, F9 Financial Report Writer, and Microsoft FRx Financial Report Writer. 

 

Carol holds a B.S. in Accounting from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL and certificates in Human Resources Practice and Strategic Human Resources Practice from Cornell University. 

 

Carol began her career in the tax department at the Coca-Cola Company.  In 1995, as the Controller of a small, accounting software development company, she became involved in her first software development project, a general ledger for the not-for-profit sector.  She has worked as a Senior Consultant with the largest independent certified public accounting and business advisory firm in Georgia.  Carol spent twelve years as a Senior Consultant/Senior Instructor with one of the largest national Sage consulting firms where she was also responsible for quality assurance testing in software development projects and wrote technical documentation and training manuals.  Carol has been the Controller and Human Resources Director at several small to medium companies in the Atlanta area, all of which used QuickBooks as their financial software. 

 

Since joining WCG in August of 2011, Carol has assisted QuickBooks clients with evaluation and documentation of current accounting systems, integration of QuickBooks with Method, financial statement analysis and implementation of accounting “best practices” for their organizations.

Gail is a financial journalist, author, speaker, and instructor. She is the managing editor at AccountingWEB, the online daily newsmagazine for members of the tax and accounting community, with a subscriber base of 56,000 and an estimated readership of over 100,000 unique readers per month. Ms. Perry is a former senior tax accountant with Deloitte, and she continues to maintain a tax and financial consulting practice. She is the author of 28 books on various aspects of personal finance, taxation, and financial software, including Surviving Financial Downsizing: A Practical Guide to Living Well on Less Income. Ms. Perry has also written hundreds of articles for newspapers, magazines, and financial Web sites, she was a contributing editor for Accounting Today magazine for five years, and she was a weekly tax columnist for five years for the Indianapolis Star and Indianapolis News daily newspapers. Shelly Robbins is the founder of The QuickSource, a community of QuickBooks professionals who meet up to support each other as they grow their QuickBooks consulting businesses. She founded The QuickSource in 1999, and for 10 years she led a team of QuickBooks professionals supporting small businesses across the Pacific Northwest region with QuickBooks bookkeeping, troubleshooting, and training.


Now Shelly is one of the few national speakers for Intuit's Trainer Writer Network, teaching accounting professionals how to troubleshoot QuickBooks, especially QuickBooks for Mac. Donovan Sachs

Donovan is a consultant at Alembic Computer Services, Inc., a business consulting firm specializing in Exact Macola and the QuickBooks line of products, as well as a wide range of third-party products.  He joined the Alembic team in 2008 after serving in the U.S. Air force for over 12 year as a computer information technician.  In the Air Force he worked as an information security specialist, computer help desk and support technician, system administrator, website administrator, and gained experience in programming and application development as well as database development and maintenance. 

At Alembic Donovan works with installation and support for QuickBooks and several third-party applications such as ACCTivate! and Fishbowl Inventory.  One of his specialties is custom report development for QuickBooks (via QQube, Custom Advanced Reporting in QuickBooks Enterprise and QODBC); in addition to any other data source customers may need reporting on.  Donovan works with clients on a daily basis to develop and maintain their custom reporting needs and applications to allow them to take full advantage of their software and data.  When a project requires more than a custom report he works with the customer and programming team at Alembic to develop a custom solution designed to meet the client’s specific needs.

Donovan has his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration as well as two separate Associate’s degrees in Computer Information Systems with one specializing in Software Engineering.  He is a QuickBooks Certified Pro-Advisor and is also certified in both ACCTivate! and Fishbowl Inventory.

Jim Savage has been a QuickBooks Pro Advisor since 1999. He is also part of the Intuit Premier Reseller program, which specializes in marketing to the mid-market channel. In addition, he is an Advanced Certified Pro Advisor and his company, Savage and Associates, is certified in QuickBooks Enterprise and QuickBase in the ISP channel. Prior to becoming a Pro Advisor, Jim was an IT director for a major health insurance carrier and has been involved in large scale IT projects throughout his career. In 1996, Marc was a co-founder and an original board member of Pretty Good Privacy ("PGP"), a company formed to commercialize one of the most prevalent security standards used on the Internet, and recently popularized in the book The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

 

Marc assisted with the initial formation of PGP and oversaw the financing, growth and eventual sale of the company (to Network Associates (Nasdaq: INTC), a public company worth over $1 billion) in December of 1997. After PGP, Marc co-founded VerticalOne Corporation, a content personalization service that was sold to S1 Corporation (Nasdaq: ACIW) for $166 million.

 

Marc was Executive Vice President of VerticalOne and worked in multiple areas of the company including financing, business development, sales, M&A and security issues. Marc also co-founded Lanta Technology Group, an Atlanta-based company that specialized in the executive staffing.

Joe Woodard is an Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and Intuit Premier Reseller with over 10 years of experience supporting clients who use QuickBooks. Since Joe began teaching QuickBooks 10 years ago, he has taught over 20,000 QuickBooks consultants across the country and he currently works state CPA societies and large CPA firms to present advanced QuickBooks instruction to accounting professionals and software consultants. Joe is the host of the Scaling New Heights conference and is also host and founder of The National Advisor Network.


Joe Woodard has earned a unique, national reputation a trainer, consultant and author on Intuit-related topics. Joe periodically provides advisory services to Intuit regarding product development, project management, and Intuit's interaction with accounting professionals. In 2009, Joe self-published the technical manual "Top 100 QuickBooks Tips, Tricks and Workarounds."


Joe has built two successful accounting software consulting practices: the first in New Orleans, Louisiana and the second in Atlanta, Georgia – The Woodard Consulting Group. In addition to consulting with small and medium sized businesses, The Woodard Consulting Group provides advisory services to CPA firms and other QuickBooks ProAdvisors/Intuit Premier Resellers across the country -- helping them to better service their clients who use Intuit products.
In 2009, Joe became the only Method authorized trainer for Method Solution Provider certification in the U.S. Joe hosts Method Certification Boot Camps on a regular basis to prepare professionals to provide Method consulting services to their clients. In 2009 Joe used the Method platform to develop Pendulum - an online timesheet application that integrates with QuickBooks.


In 2006, Joe was recognized in The CPA Technology Advisor's first annual 40 Under 40 recognition program as one of the tax and accounting profession's up and coming thought leaders who will help steward the continued evolution of technology in the practice.

 

In 2012, Joe was recognized as one of the Top 100 Influencers of the Accounting industry by Accounting Today.

 


Jill Ward, MBA

Jill will deliver our opening keynote address

 

As senior vice president and general manager of the accounting professionals division, Jill Ward leads Intuit’s efforts to develop products and services that help accountants increase their productivity and grow their practices. Additionally, her teams develop programs to help accountants recommend the right Intuit offerings to help their small business clients succeed.
Ward joined Intuit in 2001 as the vice president and general manager of QuickBase and went on to lead the company’s vertical solutions businesses. Previously, she served as vice president of Accountant Central, responsible for strengthening Intuit’s relationships with accountants.


Before coming to Intuit, Ward held senior positions at financial and business services companies, including Fidelity Investments, and Bain and Company. She holds a master’s in business administration from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth. In 2008, “Accounting Today” magazine named her as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in accounting.

 


Luis Sanchez, MBA

Luis has worked at Intuit for the past three years and currently leads Intuit’s QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program. He is on the front lines of innovation that affects accounting professionals every day, and his expertise has further strengthened the program’s value for its vocal and very influential members. Prior to leading the ProAdvisor Program, Luis guided the development and growth of several of Intuit’s tax-based solutions, including Intuit Tax Import, Intuit Tax Research, Intuit Tax Online and Intuit Practice Management.
 

A Harvard MBA graduate and a passionate marketer at heart, Luis has more than 15 years of experience in financial services and consumer products with experience at Visa, General Mills, JP Morgan and Bay Area start-ups. At Visa, Luis was a mobile marketing expert on the company’s innovation team. At General Mills, he spent 6 years as a brand manager on brands like Cheerios, Pillsbury and Old El Paso, and as a corporate strategy manager advising top management on acquisitions, strategic assessments and long-range planning.


Luis holds a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University and a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. Outside of work, Luis is a fan of San Francisco, the Minnesota Vikings, golf, running and film. He and his wife, Kelly Garayoa Sanchez, are thrilled to be relatively new parents to their daughter Espi, who was born in August 2012.

 


Alex Hood

Director of Product Management for Intuit's QuickBooks Online

 

Alex will deliver a keynote address during the Monday general session

 

Alex Hood is Director of Product Management for Intuit's QuickBooks Online. In this role, he is responsible for the strategic direction of QuickBooks Online. Alex previously led product management for QuickBooks Desktop for Windows, releasing and managing the 2011, 2012 and 2013 editions. Before joining the QuickBooks team, he spearheaded strategic growth initiatives across Intuit based on insights from customer research as part of the Corporate Strategy team.

 

Prior to joining Intuit, Alex held product management leadership positions at the National Association of Securities Dealers (now FINRA) and NASDAQ Europe/NASDAQ Deutschland. He earned his bachelor’s degree in international studies and economic theory from American University, and his master’s of business administration from the University of California at Berkeley. When Alex isn’t entrenched in QuickBooks product strategy, you might find him in the deep sea, SCUBA diving.

 


Steve Blundell CPA

Steve Blundell is Senior Manager Vendor Partner Relations and Customer Advocate for APD. He is responsible for the relationships APD has with vendors and partners. He also fills the role of customer advocate.

Blundell has held a variety of roles during his 20 year career at Intuit; from a role as the leader of non-tax development to Vice President of the ProSeries Tax Group. Although he retired in January of 2005, he has maintained a primary role as customer advocate. Prior to joining Intuit, Blundell was a partner in the firm of Pignato Underwood Blundell CPAs in Delray Beach, Florida. He was also CEO of Direct Link Software, a business tax software company. Blundell also co-authored the Accountant’s Trial Balance software for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. His varied roles in the profession as a CPA, software developer and corporate vice president make him the perfect choice to fill APD’s Customer Advocate role.


Blundell earned his BS in Accounting from Florida Atlantic University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

René founded Bill.com in April 2006, bringing with him more than 20 years experience in the finance, software and payments industries. Built from a legacy of four generations of entrepreneurs, René developed the concept for Bill.com based on personal experience growing new businesses. He recognized the need to improve the lives of business owners by simplifying, consolidating and automating all the critical data and transaction capability into a personalized mobile command and control center that works for all businesses.


Prior to Bill.com, René co-founded America's #1 online payroll service PayCycle in 1999, which was acquired by Intuit in 2009. PayCycle received numerous 5-star awards from PC Magazine and accounting trade publications. At PayCycle, René developed an industry leading customer service organization that provided an unparalleled customer experience.


René spent five years at Intuit, creating and managing the company's bill presentment team and growing its bill payment and credit card businesses 30% in one year. He also launched Intuit's first connected payroll product, growing the team from two employees to 300 in 18 months.
René received a Masters of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Quantitative Economics from Stanford University.
In his spare time Rene likes to throw his two boys in the air, play ultimate Frisbee, run, bike and bake. What excites Rene most about Bill.com is the idea of replacing the static Excel spreadsheet allowing businesses to streamline the way they make decisions and take action.

Steve Leavitt is an experienced sales professional with a strong track record of success as a business leader in the IT industry.   As General Manager of Exact Online US, he is responsible for orchestrating the strategy and execution for the Exact Online business solutions for SMB manufacturers and wholesalers. 

With more than 15 years of sales and Cloud technology background, Steve has developed a keen understanding of the important contribution Cloud solutions make for small businesses.  Steve’s career spans many years in roles of increasing responsibility:  Most recently he was the VP of North American Sales for Neotys and prior to Neotys,  VP of East Coast Sales for the Data Protection Business at HP Software with responsibility for the strategic sales direction both the cloud and on premise based data protection solutions. Steve joined HP by way of the acquisition of Autonomy, Inc. in 2011.  Steve spent 12 years in various roles in Iron Mountain’s Digital Business Unit where he helped drive both direct and indirect sales to build one of the world’s largest Public Clouds. Steve joined Iron Mountain by way of the acquisition of Connected Corporation where he was one of the first sales people and helped build the business from $1 million to $20 million.

 Steve graduated from Assumption College with a Bachelor Degree in Business Communications.
